Even when camping, scouts should plan a balanced menu for their meals. They should also plan for how food is to be prepared (dutch oven, camp stove, foil meals, etc.). The following list has suggested menu items for each meal.

Lunch

  • Sandwich variations:
    1. Bagels/Tortillas/Pita/Breads/Rolls
    2. Cheese, Sprouts, Lettuce/Spinach
    3. Deli Meats, Spreads, Egg salad, Tuna salad
    4. Butter, Mayo, Catsup, Mustard, Pickles, pesto
    5. Tabouli, hummus; pizza sauce,
  • Grilled cheese, ham & cheese, or PBJ
  • Rueben (pastrami, Swiss, sauerkraut, 1000 Island)
  • Hamburgers
  • Instant soups – many varieties, add instant rice, veggies, etc
  • Mac & Cheese
  • Trail foods: backpack bars, granola, Gorp, Corn Nuts, fruit Canned fish/meats, crackers, Cheese, Jerky
